A couple from war-torn Ukraine had a symbolic wedding amid the ongoing conflict with Russia, which claimed numerous lives and left Ukrainian cities in the ashes. The pair exchanged vows while dressed in military uniforms rather than a white dress and tux.

A video posted on Twitter shows the newlyweds coming out of a church and cheering and spreading smiles.

The video was shared on the microblogging platform by Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to Ukraine’s Interior Minister.

“Ukrainian weddings these days. No white dresses and tuxedos, but lots of love and happiness,” the official said in his tweet.

The bride appears in the video wearing a veil over her camouflage outfit, and the groom is also seen dressed in uniform. While music plays in the background and guests cheer for the happy couple, the man lifts his bride and takes rounds.

The track was viewed 2.8 lakh times and more than 18,000 users have liked it since it was posted on Monday.

Users flooded the comments section of the post with blessings and sincere comments.

“Never seen a most beautiful bridal couple,” one user wrote, while another said, “May they live long and prosper.”

According to a post shared by Oleksandra Matviichuk, the head of The Center for Civil Liberties of Ukraine on June 12, Ukrainian defenders married Kateryna and Vadym in Poltava, Ukraine. This wedding was arranged in just a few hours.

She congratulated the newlyweds and wished them many happy years together.
